Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)Test(self testing)

Self-Test for the detection of leukocytes, blood, nitrites and proteins in urine( Certificate: CE, TGA)

Urinary Tract Infection

The urinary system is the body’s drainage system for filtering blood, removing wastes and extra water.  Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are the second most common type of infection in the body. A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection of any part of the urinary system . It can involve any part of your urinary system. Bacteria — especially E. coli — are the most common cause of UTIs.

Description:

Types of UTIs:

UTIs are classified according to the location of the infection:

  • Cystitis (bladder infection)is a common type of UTI that involves inflammation of the bladder.
  • Pyelonephritis (kidney infection)is a painful kidney infection caused by cystitis. In some cases, the bacteria from the bladder can travel up towards one or both kidneys.
  • Urethritis (urethra infection)involves inflammation of the urethra. It is usually caused by an infection.

Who is the Test for?

URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS TEST is intended for anyone who wants to check the presence of leukocytes, blood, nitrites or proteins in the urine, indicating a possible infection in progress.

The test should be performed in the presence of one or more of the following symptoms: frequent urination, burning when urinating,Itchiness in your urethra,  cloudy and/or smelly urine. It is recommended to use the very first urine in the morning.

Test Specifications

URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS TEST (Urine) is firm plastic strips onto which several separate reagent areas are affixed.  The test is intended for qualitative and semi-quantitative detection of leukocytes, blood, nitrites and proteins in urine.

Leukocytes accuracy                                                                            97.6%

Blood  accuracy                                                                                     96.0%

Proteins accuracy                                                                                  88.0%

Nitrites accuracy                                                                                   100.0%

Contents

  • 1 or 2 or 3 test strips
  • 1 color chart
  • 1 or 2 or 3 urine cup
  • instructions for use

USE PROCEDURE

  1. Collect the first urine in the morning by using a clean and dry cup;
  2. Take out the test strip from the aluminium pouch;
  3. Deep the test strip into the sample for 1-2 seconds;
  4. Wait 2 minutes before reading the results.
  5. Compare the test results with the color chart.

Results Interpretation

Negative the presence of leukocytes, blood, nitrites and proteins in the urine has not been detected, Your Urinary System is healthy.

 Positive:

Leucocytes:  Detects white blood cells in urine, typically indicating infection or inflammation in the urinary tract.

Blood: Checks a urine sample for red blood cells, indicating potential urinary tract infections, kidney stones, cancer, or kidney diseases.

Nitrites:  Detects nitrite-producing bacteria in the urine, indicating a likely urinary tract infection (UTI).

Proteins: A protein in urine test (urinalysis or ACR) measures albumin levels to detect potential kidney damage, as healthy kidneys typically allow very little protein to pass into urine.
